If you really fancy something different that doesn't suite one of our own models, then a 'special build' guitar is maybe what you are looking for. Till now we did all kinds of special builds on request. From arch-tops till double necks, and from synthesizer guitars till hybrid cross overs. Pick the woods, colour and even personalized hand crafted inlay's (like for instance your name) you like to make this guitar especially built for you! Have a look down here to check out the special builds we did so far and get inspiration for your own special build!
Electric/acoustic hybrid cross-over guitar with pick-ups. Dolphin f-hole. Fretboard inlay 'Van Boheemen'.
The first ever Stoney Creek double neck! Black limba top on chambered swamp ash. We had a hard time getting the 12 tuners of the 2nd neck all togheter on the same fender style headstock, but in the end the result is marvelous! 2 necks of the same length with one of them reversed. Great playability, even in the high register!
The first ever Stoney Creek bass guitar, special built for good friend Ben Koole. 5 strings and a beautiful mappa burl top with 2 huge soapbar pick-ups. It really sounds like what we have called it; the Boulder bass has een very fat and deep sound.
Once Jan Akkerman heard Frank de Haan started the new Stoney Creek guitars brand, he ordered one with a special Fishman triple play synthesizer. At the header 'Media' you can watch Jan play this Turmaline model with walnut top.
Jantje saw the Stoney Creek team working on this fine guitar on Facebook photo's and fell instantly in love. He made an appointment at the workshop and was just in time to pick out the hardware he'd like to have for his special built himself. The result? An amazing mappa burl Rochelle!
Yes! We also build acoustic guitars sometimes, like this one for Jirre. Jirre had a parlor inspired acoustic guitar that broke. Instead of repairing this, we designed one ourselves wiith special rozet and JJ inlay. This is a small guitar with a very big sound! (and ofcourse we repaired his original guitar in the end as well ;) )
In the workshop, we sometimes get the most crazy ideas that work out pretty well in the end! Like the time we designed this Les paul inspired model without cutaway. In the corner at the workshop, there was hanging a map of America which Frank did own for decades already. Glued on a mahogany body with epoxy and a burst, it gives this guitar a real nice vintage look! And who knows, someday a Nebraskian civilian will own this one of a kind guitar!
This own designed arch top took a while to build, but what a result! Spruce, flamed maple body with a mahogany/ebony neck. The guitar sounds real jazzy, come try it out at the Stoney Creek guitar store!
Local artist Jasper Kaldenbach was looking for a small guitar with a big sound. This Parlor was exactly what he was looking for. Since we built Jasper this guitar, he takes it everywhere he goes!
With this Gretsch style inspired guitar, we went all over the top! Bordeaux red maple/mahogany body with all gold hardware. Stijn de Koning (owner) wanted everything to be personalized. His last name (in English) is 'the King'. We designed a special crown inlay for the fretboard, king chess piece in the pick guard and even his name written in MOP on the headstock! Stunning result!
Another Gretsch style inspired arch top guitar with a cool Tobacco finish. Spruce on Mahogany, Jirre's 2nd special build! Can't wait for the third Jirre!
How awesome are these Amstel Guitars?! With a wooden crate top which is over 50 years old! We build 2 tele's and one strat with this concept especially for the 'Vrienden van Amstel Live 2019' concerts. Roy Beukers played on of these every night. A very nice special build!
